Harriet Elaine Hayflick Moulton, 84, “AKA the Mayor of E 72nd St”, beloved mother, sister, stepmother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to so many, passed away on May 6th after complications from hip replacement surgery last September.
Born in NYC on April 19th, 1939 to the late Ruth Geist Hayflick and Harold Hayflick, Harriet moved with her family from the Upper West Side to Hewlett, L.I. She graduated from Hewlett HS in 1959. She then attended Syracuse University. Returning to NYC as a young adult, Harriet worked for the Schubert Theater, where she claimed she had to wear her “big boy pants”. It was a job she loved and told many stories about. Next came Colt Industries, where she met Conant (Cony) Moulton. She later worked at Pfizer.
Harriet and Cony married in 1968 and from then on, she lived on East 72nd Street in a building she loved with neighbors and friends who were like family.
Harriet is preceded in death by her husband Cony and her son Paul. She leaves behind her daughter Lizzie Moulton (Antti Ketola), stepdaughter Pamela Moulton (Bruce James), brother Jack Hayflick (Karen Cohen), grandchildren Lexi and Colt and countless relatives and friends who all loved her dearly.
She will be remembered and missed for her amazing sense of humor, razor-sharp mind, endless stories, her generous and caring spirit, and her famed cookies and cakes.
