Obituary

WEBER – Lawrence Frederick, of Williamstown, MA and New York, NY passed away peacefully on September 8. Larry was born on April 4, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY to Benjamin and Alice Weber and grew up in Jersey City, NJ.

After graduating Jersey Prep in 1950, Larry attended University of Connecticut. He served in the US Army from 1956-62 and had a successful career in finance, traveling frequently to the Asia Pacific region. Larry was a beloved leader in the communities he called home: in Saltaire, Fire Island, Larry was the lay Rabbi of B’nai Saltaire and Assistant Fire Chief.

In Williamstown, he led the campaign to save Images Cinema and was the Marshall of the Williamstown July 4th parade. Larry took great pride in his house in the Berkshires, the first residence designed by Maya Lin. Larry’s immense love for his family is rivaled only by his passion for a Peter Luger steak, farm fresh corn, and Purple Cow ice cream.

Larry’s passion for life and compassion for others was felt by all. Larry is survived by his wife Judith, sister Ethel, children Daniel (Adi) and Jeffrey (Stacey), grandchildren Harris, Perry, Ally, Ben and Deena, and his cat, Prince William.
